HeNN receives donation of US$24,000
Help Nepal Network (helpnepal.net), a global charity supported primarily by the Nepali Diaspora, has received a donation of US$24,000 by six Nepalis living in various countries.
The donations will go to the special Fund which is established to support the charity's administrative expenses. Sixteen other donors have already contributed to the Fund in the past, the details of which can be found on the network's website. The new donations take the total value of the Fund to nearly US$100,000.
HeNN was established nine years ago with a primary objective to encourage Nepalis and those who love Nepal around the world to contribute to and provide them a platform for charitable activities in Nepali villages.
Unlike a majority of charities, the Network has the policy of not using charitable donations for administrative purposes. It has built a separate Administrative Fund to bear its overheads by collecting donations of at least US$4,000 from any interested donor.
The latest donations were made by Purnaman Singh Basnyat (Nepal), a committed social worker and a former Head Teacher of Dhulikhel School; Shraddha Tandan (UK), a student and an entrepreneur; Subin Baral (Australia), Senior Manager, Earnst & Young; Badri Pandey (Qatar), Managing Director, Al-Fajer International Trading and Contracting Company; Sagar Nepal (Qatar), Managing Director, GCC Trading, Exporting, Contracting Company and Dr Pranab Gyawali (UK), President of HeNN-UK.
Since its establishment the Network has helped build several schools, run several health camps and supported various other projects in the fields of health and education. Major projects include construction of a health post at Murmu VDC in remote Mugu district, the on-going construction of a shelter for conflict-impacted children in Dhulikhel at the cost of over US$100,000 and the establishment of several electronic libraries in village schools. HeNN has completed over 40 projects on health and education in different parts of Nepal.
Based on the philosophy of ‘Nepalis for Nepal,’ the charity has been in the forefront of mobilizing the goodwill and support of Nepalis around the world for charitable causes in Nepal. nepalnews.com Mar 02 09
