AISC meeting will sort out PLA recruitment row: PM

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the meeting of the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) would sort out the controversy over the recruitment drive of People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

The PLA is no more under the party (Maoist), but has already come under the jurisdiction of the state. So, it should comply with the instructions of the AISC, PM Dahal said addressing the inaugural function of 11th National Convention of All Nepal Legal Professionals that kicked off in the capital, on Thursday.

PM Dahal, who is also the coordinator of AISC, said yesterday he would call the committee’s meeting soon. The AISC includes representatives from all major political parties and is responsible for monitoring the activities of both the PLA and the National Army (NA) during the transition.

The recruitments of PLA as well as the NA are neither wrong nor right, the PM said.

He also refused to comment on the row over NA recruitments. “Since the case of NA recruitment is in the court, I will not comment on the issue,” Dahal said.

In a meeting with the president of Nepali Congress Girija Prasad Koirala, PM Dahal had said he would stop the PLA recruitments. PLA has already started taking applications for various posts in its divisions. nepalnews.com ta Mar 05 09
