FM Yadav meets his Belgian counterpart
Minister of Foreign Affairs Upendra Yadav met Deputy Prime Minister and
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium H. Karel De Gucht at the latter's
office in Brussels and discussed matters related to bilateral interests,
on Friday.
At the meeting Yadav apprised his Belgian counterpart of Nepal's ongoing
peace process, the constitution drafting process and the integration and
rehabilitation issues of Maoist combatants, Nepali embassy in Brussels
said in a statement.
He said that Nepal needed enhanced support from friendly countries like
Belgium for post-conflict reconstruction, rehabilitation and development
in order to ensure sustainable peace building efforts.
The two ministers also discussed the possibility of adding Nepal to the
list of priority countries for Belgian bilateral assistance. "While noting
Nepal's genuine needs, the Belgian side informed that whatever aid Belgium
was providing to Nepal was currently channelled through some international
organiszations and NGOs. Both sides emphasised the importance of
strengthening bilateral relations in the areas of cultural exchanges and
promotion of investment and tourism to Nepal," the statement read.
Promotion of Nepalese exports in the Belgian market, cooperation in
capacity building of the trade sector and human resource development also
