Over 400 huts gutted in Bhutanese refugee camp A fire that spread in the Bhutanese refugee camp in Beldangi, Jhapa destroyed hundreds of huts Wednesday evening.
The fire that started from the hut of Binod Thapa at around 7 p.m. gutted some 400 huts in sector E-2, E-3 and D-4.
According to police, half-dozen people have been injured by the fire with one being serious. Police and the refugees brought the fire under control at about 2 a.m. Thursday morning.
In another incident, some 200 homes were destroyed by fire in Odhara VDC of Saptari district. Property worth millions has been destroyed in the fire. The damage occurred due to the strong winds which prevented timely control of the fire, police said.
Smaller incidents of fire have also been reported from other parts of Saptari, Bhaktapur, Ramgram of Nawalparasi and Dhading. nepalnews.com Mar 12 09
