Govt committed towards stimulating private sector: Shakya

Minister for Industry Asta Laxmi Shakya on Saturday said that the private sector has to take a lead role in propelling the country towards the path of economic prosperity.

"Realising the fact that the private sector can act as a catalyst for the economic turnaround of the country, the government has also adopted a policy of encouraging private investment in various sectors," she stated while speaking at the third anniversary of Robeus International Pvt Company in Kathmandu.

Minister Shakya also opined that harnessing small cottage industries can go a long way in uplifting the economic status of rural Nepal.

"Creating more job opportunities in villages across the country is sine qua non for the proportional economic development," she remarked adding that the government's new industrial policy has laid emphasis on stimulating small cottage industries across the rural areas of the country. nepalnews.com March 15 09
