Woman killed for failing to bring dowry
A woman has been killed by her husband and in-laws in Mahottari district
for failing to bring dowry on Wednesday, Annapurna daily reported.
Shreejana Singh, 26, resident of Itahabarkatti of the district was killed
by her husband Pabitra Singh and sister-in-law Amrita Devi for failing to
give Rs 2 lacs as dowry to them.
Police arrested Singh and Devi as they were heading towards India to
dispose the body of the deceased. The village is in the border to India.
My son-in-law and his family killed my daughter for not giving them Rs 2
lacs, the daily quoted Ram Bahadur Budathoki, father of the deceased, as
saying.
Dowry is a grave problem in the southern plains of Nepal. Many women are
