Maoists to carry out city-centric protests
Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that his party would now
spearhead city-centered protest programmes to pressure the new ruling
coalition to nullifying President's decision to reinstate the sacked army
chief.
Speaking at Republic Day function in Lalitpur Friday, Dahal claimed that
conspiracies were being hatched for restoring monarchy, under the disguise
of 'baby king', and pointed at government's decision to relocate republic
monument from Narayanhity Museum to Ratna Park as a step to that
direction.
He said by stepping down from the government his party has gained support
from the general people and that he resigned not because of losing
majority but for strengthening civilian supremacy.
Alleging that his government was toppled for tying to work for national
interests, the Maoist chairman said the new coalition government under the
leadership of Madhav Kumar Nepal will lead the nation to a disaster. nepalnews.com ia May 29 09
