PM visits his hometown; two Maoist cadres arrested for waving black flag
Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal visited his home district Rautahat Sunday.
PM Nepal, who arrived in Rautahat by an army helicopter, attended a
function organised in his honour in Chandranighapur. Although he was
scheduled to leave at 9 am this morning, his departure was delayed due to
bad weather.
Speaking at the programme in Chandranigahapur, Nepal said political parties
must collaborate for drafting the new constitution on time and bringing
the peace process to a conclusion.
Hinting at the verbal attack on him by Maoist leaders, Nepal said he would
not be bothered by negative comments for the sake of political consensus.
Meanwhile, two Maoist cadres were arrested while waving black flag to the
PM when he was addressing the function. Reports said the Maoist cadres
were beaten up by UML cadres and then handed over to the police.
This is his first visit to his home district after being appointed as the PM. nepalnews.com May 31 09
