Christians stage rally demanding probe into church bombing
The local Christian community in Kathmandu staged a protest rally on
Sunday, demanding quick probe into the bombing in a church in Lalitpur on
May 23.
Hundreds of Christians joined in the rally, marching through the main
thoroughfares in central Kathmandu. A number of Christian organisations
were involved in the protest rally.
They called for guarantee of religious freedom and demanded action against
those involved in the bomb blast inside the Assumption Church located at
Dhobighat, which killed two churchgoers and injured several others.
A day after the blast, the government had formed a three-member probe
committee led by Deputy Inspector General of police Kuber Singh Rana,
which is yet to submit its report.
Nobody has been arrested in connection with the bomb attack in the church. A Hindu extremist group called Nepal Defence Army had claimed
responsibility for the blast. nepalnews.com mk May 31 09
