NC rival factions further divided on sister organisation issues
Nepali Congress (NC) rival factions led by president Sushil Koirala and leader Sher Bahadur Deuba have been further divided on the issue of sister organistations. Koirala and Deuba held separate meetings at their residences in Maharajgunj and Budhanilkantha respectively Tuesday
afternoon with their supporters to discuss the general convention of the sister organisations.
Deuba’s supporters who gathered at his residence in Budhanilkantha this afternoon explained him why they boycotted the Central Working Committee meeting on Sunday. NP CWC member close to Deuba, NP Saud, said, Deuba assured he would not let the sister organisations be dissolved and would not keep mum if decisions were taken unilaterally.
On the other hand, leaders of the Koirala faction advised president Koirala to be more affirmative to his decisions. NC leader Rajan Pant
said, Koirala had assured them he would present himself more strongly in future to counter opposition voices.
The Deuba and Koirala faction in NC are at odds over the dissolution of various sister organisations under the party. The Koirala faction is for dissolving the present executive committees of Nepal Students Union, Nepal Women Organisation and Tarun Dal, while the Deuba faction is for allowing the committees elected by the previous general conventions to hold the next general conventions. nepalnews.com
