Special Court slaps penalty to VP Jha's press secy

The Special Court on Monday convicted Rajesh Jha 'Ahiraj', a newspaper editor and media secretary of Vice President Paramananda Jha, for publishing an advertisement that "posed threat to national integrity".

A bench of Special Court justices Gauri Bahadur Karki, Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise in its ruling stated that the advertisement issued by Rajan Mukti-led underground armed outfit 'Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha' for military recruitment, which was published in 'Madheshbani', a weekly newspaper published and edited by Jha, posed threat to national integrity.

The court slapped him a fine of Rs 500.

Jha was arrested on 18 September, 2010 after a complaint was filed, and was released on bail on 23 September. nepalnews.com
