Boxer Raju Budhamagar no more

Boxer Raju Budhamagar passed away on Wednesday at the Neuro Hospital, Bansbari, Kathmandu. Rai was seriously injured during a boxing tournament, fighting in men's 52 Kg category on Tuesday at Hetauda.

After the incident, he was rushed to Bharatpur Medical college for further treatment but the case was referred to Kathmandu.

Unfortunately, Budhamagar was declared dead at 14:30 pm on Wednesday.

Budhamagar became the third athlete and second boxer to die in similar incident.

About three decades ago, another pugilist had died while undergoing sparring training at Kamalpokhari Boxing Club and 15 year-old Gyalgen Lama suffered a cardiac arrest while playing in the Coca Cola Cup few months back.

Meanwhile, the tournament organiser have announced Rs 100,000, National Sports Council 50,000 and National and International Players Association 50,000 as an assistance for Budamagar's family. nepalnews.com
