Govt to implement dress code to civil employees from July 17

The government has decided to implement its recent policy of compulsory dress code to all civil service employees from July 17.

The Ministry of General Administration has issued circular to all concerned officers Thursday mentioning the type and colour of the dresses following a cabinet decision to this effect.

According to the circular, men will wear the national dress
(Daura-Suruwal) or dark blue suit with white shirt and a tie, while the women can wear either Shirt-Trousers, Sari-blouse or Kurtha-Salwar of dark blue colour.

The government had provided Rs 7500 each to the civil service employees to buy the dresses as per the dress code three months ago with a plan to implement the decision from Nepali New Year, Baisakh 1.

However, the plan did not materialise as the type and the colour of the dress was not fixed.

The allowance for dress code to some 78 thousand civil service employees will cost the government an addition 0.5 billion rupees per year. nepalnews.com
