President asks parties to work in unison for peace, constitution

President Dr Ram Baran Yadav said that there was no alternative for the parties to working together so as to draft the new constitution within the May 27, the deadline for promulgating the Constitution.

Stating that the nation would be safe only if the task of restoring peace and drafting the new constitution is completed, the President urged all political parties to work in unison considering this fact.

According to RSS, addressing the golden jubilee celebrations of the Janakalyan Higher Secondary School at Barkulpur in Kapilvastu on Monday, President Dr Yadav stressed that parties should rise above partisan interests so as to safeguard nationality.

He said that the Prime Minister has assured him that the writing of the draft of the constitution would be completed by April 12 and the new constitution would be promulgated within the slated timeframe.

Meanwhile, President Yadav said that political stability has not been possible and development not accelerated in the country as no changes following 1990 have been institutionalized.

Inaugurating a special function organized to mark the golden jubilee of Pashupati Higher Secondary School, Saljhandi of Rupandehi on Monday, Dr Yadav urged the political parties to work seriously to conclude the peace and constitution drafting process by May 27.

The President also said that he would give his full support in the drafting of the new constitution that incorporates all.

Stating that development of the country was not possible without development of education, Dr Yadav expressed concern over the deteriorating state of education in the Tarai lately.

At the program, Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Dan Bahadur Chaudhary said the parties need to give up their respective position in order to ensure that the constitution is drafted by May 27. nepalnews.com
