Police identify three persons involved in murder of Jhapa-based Avenues Television journalist
Police on Wednesday made public three persons for their alleged involvement in the murder of journalist Yadav Poudel, the Jhapa-based correspondent of Avenues TV.
Organising a press conference, District Police Office, Jhapa made public local businessman Yuvaraj Giri including Somraj Dhakal and his wife Manju Dhakal, owners of Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner, a lodge in Birtamod. Police named Giri as the “mastermind” behind the murder of journalist Poudel and Dhakal duo as accomplices to the crime.
According to the preliminary investigation report prepared by the police, on the night of April 3 Poudel and Giri were involved in a brawl at Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner in the presence of eyewitness Manju Dhakal following which Giri thrashed Poudel and threw him off the three-storey building. Poudel immediately died of severe head injuries.
Yadav Poudel, 40, a Jhapa district correspondent of Avenues Television and Rajdhani Daily, and also sub-editor for local Mechi Times was originally from Southa VDC, Morang.
His body was found covered with wounds and bruises in front of the Purvanchal Sekuwa Corner nearby Birtamod Bus Park on April 4. nepalnews.com
