Constituent Assembly (CA) chairperson Subash Nemwang on Thursday claimed that the politi-cal parties will forge an agreement on the remaining contentious issues seen in new constitu-tion drafting within April 17.

Talking to media-persons at the CA secretariat, he said that the top leaders of the major political parties had personally expressed their commitment to complete the army integration work by April 12 and forge consensus on the disputed issues concerning the new constitution within April 17.

“But looking at the historic decision to complete army integration work even before April 12, if the parties move ahead in the same spirit, nothing will stop them from forging consensus on disputed issues seen in new constitution drafting by April 17.”

He further said the parties have no alternative but to create an amicable environment for the promulgation of the new constitution within the May 27 deadline.

“The long-stalled peace process has moved ahead without any possibility of retracing its steps back. I am now confident that the constitution drafting work will also accelerate,” Nemwang said. nepalnews.com
