Another breakthrough in peace process as AISC settles all issues related to integration
In another significant development in the peace process, the Army Integration Special Committee (AISC) Saturday settled all outstanding
issues related to the integration of the Maoist combatants.
A meeting of the AISC held at the Prime Minister’s residence in the evening approved the agreement reached at the three-party meeting held
earlier today.
As per the AISC decision, the ranks for the combatants to be integrated into the Nepal Army will be determined as per the NA’s
standards. Similarly, the selection committee [for official level] will be headed by the chairman of the Public Service Commission (PAC)
or the member appointed by him.
Similarly, the general directorate to be formed under the Nepal Army would be headed by a Lt. General.
Similarly, the combatants will have to go through three to nine months of training depending on their ranks.
A meeting of the top leaders of the three parties had reached an agreement on all disputed issues of integration prior to the AISC
meeting. The three-party leaders were also present at the AISC meeting.
A cabinet meeting will endorse the decisions of the AISC on Sunday. nepalnews.com |
