U-19 National Cricket: Biratnagar, Birgunj win

Region No. 1 Biratnagar and Region No. 2 Birgunj won their respective matches of the Wai Wai U-19 National Cricket Tournament on Sunday.

Biratnagar defeated Region No. 8 Pokhara by 43 runs in the match played at Pulchowk Engineering ground while Birgunj thrashed Region No. 3 Kathmandu by seven wickets in the match played at Kirtipur TU Ground.

Electing to bat first, Biratnagar set the target of 170 runs in 43.4 overs losing all the wickets. However, chasing the target, Pokhara were all out in 36 overs posting just 126 runs.

Anup Karki made half a century off 91 balls while Amit Dahal contributed 22 runs off 46 balls and his five wickets against Pokhara led his team to secure victory.

In another match, electing to bat first, Kathmandu posted the target of 155 runs in 49.4 overs while Birgunj met the target in 27 overs losing just three wickets.

Hasim Ansari scored total 64 runs off 61 balls while Shiva Tandukar scored
39 runs off 36 balls for Birgunj.

Aakib Ansari took three-wickets while Hasim grabbed two-wickets to win the match. Similarly, Jatta Shankar Sharraf, Jitendra Mukhiya, Naresh Raj Giri and Bibek Dali took one wicket each. nepalnews.com
