Federalism without recognising ethnicity will not be accepted, says minister Kiranti
At a time when major parties are negotiating on the key issues related to the constitution drafting including restructuring of the state, a Maoist minister said that federal set up without recognising ethnicity would not be acceptable for him.
Gopal Kiranti, Ministry for Federal Affairs, Constituent Assembly, Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Tuesday warned of revolt if the country is not federated on the basis of ethnicity.
Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu, he said that there should be at least 11 federal states as suggested by the State Restructuring Commission (SRC).
Minister Kirati also warned that the top leaders of the major three parties would not get even a piece of land to stand upon if they go against the formation of autonomous states with ethnic identity. nepalnews.com
