Govt. collects over Rs. 172b as revenue during nine months

The government has collected Rs. 172.90 billion revenue during the first nine months of the current fiscal year 2011/12.

The revenue mobilisation is 18.1 percent higher compared to the same period last fiscal year. However, the revenue collection should go over 20 percent to meet the target set by the government, according to the Finance Ministry.

The government has collected Rs. 52.92 billion from VAT, Rs. 36.84 billion from income tax, Rs. 29.93 billion from custom duty, Rs. 24.95 billion from non-tax revenue, Rs. 21.78 from excise duty, Rs. 2.93 from vehicle tax and Rs. 2.79 billion from registration fees.

The government had targeted to collect Rs. 29.49 billion in custom duty, Rs. 48.06 billion in VAT, Rs. 23.44 billion in excise duty, Rs. 35.91 billion in income tax, Rs. 3.52 billion in registration fees, Rs. 3.69 billion in vehicle tax, and Rs. 27.25 billion in non-tax revenue during the review period. nepalnews.com
