Indigenous nationalities demand ethnic identity-based federalism
Representatives from the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities submitted a memorandum to Chairman of the CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal demanding ethnic identity-based federal state in the new constitution on Sunday.
Receiving the memorandum at his residence in Dallu, Khanal said that talks regarding the state restructuring have been intensified between the political parties.
On the occasion, Khanal assured rights of the indigenous group in the new constitution by balancing ethnic harmony in the country.
He also assured that the parties will forge consensus on the contentious and disputed issues for the constitution writing by today.
