Baidya faction reactivates 'people's volunteers'
The Mohan Baidya faction of the UCPN (Maoist) Tuesday reactivated 'people's volunteers bureau' which comprises former combatants and the young cadres on Tuesday.
The Baidya faction announced the new 17-member central body of the volunteers bureau amid a programme in Lalitpur. The bureau is headed by standing committee member Netra Bikram Chand. A number of leaders and cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL), who were loyal to the hardliner faction, have joined the Volunteers.
Vice chairman Mohan Baidya, general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa and bureau chief Chand were among those present at the programme.
The Baidya faction had floated the Volunteers a year ago as part of "preparations for people's revolt". It remained inactive after the party establishment opposed it. nepalnews.com |
