CC seeks two more days to resolve remaining disputes

The Constitutional Committee (CC) of the Constituent Assembly Wednesday sought two more days to resolve the remaining disputes related to the constitution drafting process.

The CC meeting held at Singha Durbar decided to seek two more days to forge consensus at the request of the major political parties, said UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal.

The CC sought time till Friday as the extended deadline to iron out the differences on the thorny issues related to the constitution drafting is expiring today.

The major political parties- UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the Madhesi alliance have already arrived at a consensus on form of the governance and electoral system. They have agreed to adopt the mixed electoral system where President and Prime Minister would share executive powers. However, issue of state restructuring is yet to be settled. Nepalnews.com
