Parties entrust responsibility to top leaders to resolve statute disputes

Major political parties have entrusted their top leaders with the responsibility to resolve the disputes on form of the governance and state restructuring.

The meeting of UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Madhesi Front held on Wednesday at the Constituent Assembly building at New Baneshwor handed over responsibility to prepare the draft of consensus to the top leaders by Wednesday and present it in the next meeting, NC leader Arjun Narasingh KC said.

Though the parties have tentatively agreed on the form of the governance, they are yet to reach final conclusion on the nitty gritty of power sharing between the President and the Prime Minister. Similarly, the issue of restructuring of the state is yet to be settled.

Earlier today, the Constitutional Committee (CC) of the Constituent Assembly gave two more days to the parties to resolve the remaining disputes related to the constitution. nepalnews.com
