At least 10 killed as floods wreak havoc in western Nepal
At least 10 people have been killed in the different parts of the country in landslides and floods triggered by incessant rainfall since Thursday. The floods inundated several houses leaving hundreds of families homeless.
Four persons of a family died when landslide buried their house in Tulo Lumpek VDC of Gulmi district Friday morning. Wife of Ghanashyam Bishowakarma, Bhami Bishwokarma, 39, son Santa Bahadur, 9, daughters Muna and Bipana were killed in the landslide.
Ghanashyam and his 10 years old son Keshar were rescued by the villagers from the debris, local journalist Prem Sunur informed nepalnews.
Two persons were swept to death in Deukhari of Dang on Friday. Head constable of Nepal police Ram Bahadur was swept to death while rescuing people from waterlogged area. Local Singe river swept Rana, 27, of Dailekh in Sonpur VDC. Similarly, Gyan Bahadur Pun Mangar, 40, of Gobardiha and Khairun Nisha of Bhagawanpur, of Sisahaniya Dang died after swollen Rapti river swept away them.
Hundreds houses have been inundated as the rain battered the area.
In Darchula, 10 years old Dhanmati Dhami was killed and two went missing in the landslide.
Similarly, Four and half years old Prabesh Kuwar of Devisthan VDC of Parbat and 70 years old Prem Bahadur Karki of Bhorletar, Lamjung were also swept away by local river on Friday.
In Kailali, floodwater has displaced as many as 55 families while around 1,000 houses have been inundated in Kapilvastu. Nepalnews.com
