Terai-based armed group hands over weapons to govt

Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), a Terai-based armed group led by Bhagat Singh has agreed to handover its weapons to the local authority following the talks with government's representatives in Pakali of Sunsari on Saturday.

As a gesture of commitment to the agreement, the armed group handed over 7 sets of pistols and a revolver to District Administration Office, Sunsari after the talks.

Signing a four-point agreement with the government, the armed group has agreed to collect all of its weapons and hand over to the government within 20 days.

As per the agreement, the government will start the process of releasing the armed outfit's cadres from various jails and will also withdraw the cases filed against its cadres.

A team led by Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Top Bahadur Rayamajhi had held talks with the armed group's representatives. nepalnews.com
