Students clash with police in Palpa as they wave black flags at minister Sharma

At least ten students were injured in police baton-charging in Tansen, Palpa, when they waved black flags at Education Minister Dina Nath Sharma, Wednesday afternoon.

They students were chanting slogans and waving black flags from the rooftop of a house while the minister was attending the golden jubilee function of the local Mahendrabodhi High School across the road. The police caned the protesters as they tried to evacuate them.

The students have enforced bandh (shutdown) in the town to protest the police action.

Student groups affiliated with Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and few other opposition parties had recently announced protests against the government. nepalnews.com
