Transport strike affects normal life on second consecutive day

Normal life has been affected across the nation due to the transport strike enforced by transport entrepreneurs on second consecutive day on Friday.

Public vehicles have stayed off the road in Kathmandu Valley and many towns across the country.

Many people have been forced to walk to reach their destination as public transportation means including buses and micro buses, which are run by private syndicates stayed off the road. However, private vehicles have been allowed to run without any obstruction.

Transport entrepreneurs continued strike after the talks with government on Friday failed to reach conclusion.

The transport entrepreneurs have jointly enforced nationwide transport strike from Friday to press the government to address their demands which include creation of a separate transport ministry to work for their welfare, treat the transport sector at par with industries and insurance policy friendly to transport entrepreneurs, among others. nepalnews.com
