JCFL’s Gupta convicted of corruption; sent to prison for 4 yrs
The Special Court on Thursday sentenced Bindeswar Prasad Gupta, the corruption accused former Department Chief of state-owned Janakpur Cigarette Factory Limited (JCFL) to four years in prison and a fine of Rs 3.58 million.
A joint bench of Special Court’s chairman Gauri Bahadur Kaki and members Om Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise issued the verdict after finding Gupta guilty of massive corruption during his tenure.
The Court found Gupta of misappropriating Rs. 3.58 million earned by the Russia-gifted JCFL through sale of its popular Yak filter cigarettes. nepalnews.com
