President defends his refusal to approve election ordinances; says he saw no meaning in it
Two days after refusing to endorse two ordinances related to election forwarded by the government, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav defended his move saying that he did so as the Election Commission had already told the government that conducting the Constituent Assembly polls on 22 November was impossible.

Inaugurating the Golden Jubilee Ceremony of Shree Okreni Secondary School in Sundarijal in the outskirts of Kathmandu Sunday morning, President Yadav said he saw no relevance of issuing the ordinances when the election was not going to happen.
Furthermore, he said that the political crisis facing the country is deepening due to severe clash, misunderstanding and lack of trust among the major political parties in the country, adding that they, however, have no other alternative left but to forge consensus to end the stalemate.
The government as well as the ruling coalition led by UCPN (Maoist) have expressed severe dissatisfaction at President’s refusal to approve the ordinances. Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai's political advisor Devendra Poudel said Saturday said that rejection of two election ordinances by President Ram Baran Yadav was "undemocratic and unconstitutional". nepalnews.com
