The army integration Special Committee has decided to resume the stalled integration of former Maoist combatants from September 6.
A meeting of the Special Committee held on Monday decided to resume the integration by recognising the date of birth of the combatants mentioned in their citizenship certificates.
The integration process had come to a half early July within days after the selection committee started its works in the cantonments.
The former combatants had staged protests against the selection criteria specially their age as the selection committee pointed out that majority of the combatants would be minors (at the verification time) if their date of birth mentioned in the ID cards provided by UNMIN were to be considered.
A total of 3,123 former combatants have been waiting for integration into Nepal Army. nepalnews.com
