Nepal lose to Syria in Nehru Cup
Nepal went down against Syria 2-0 in their final league match of the ongoing Nehru Cup Football Tournament played at Nehru Stadium in New Delhi , India, on Thursday.
Syria’s Hani Altayar scored a goal in the ninth minute while Ali Ghlioum doubled the score in the 49th minute to thrash struggling Nepal to bottom of the league table.
Nepal had to bear defeat in the match due to poor defending and lack of finishing touch to score.
However, both the teams’ chances of qualifying for the final round had already ended due to their poor performances and defeats in their previous matches.
Syria finished fourth in the league table with four points while Nepal in at the bottom with one point.
In the earlier matches, Nepal had lost to Maldives and Cameroon while it played a goalless draw against host India.
Similarly, Syria had lost against India and Maldives while it played 2-2 draw against Cameroon.
