Talks should focus on people's aspirations: VP Jha
The political crisis is taking a long time to be resolved as discussions among parties are not focused on fulfilling the aspirations of the people, Vice-president Paramananda Jha has said.
Talking to mediapersons at his office in Bahadur Bhawan, Jha said political parties have failed to forge consensus as they have not focused on bringing about a much-awaited change in Nepal.
The Vice-president said that President Ram Baran Yadav was acting in accordance with the Interim Constitution. "As the President is the Head of the State, I have no role to play in the present context," Jha told mediapersons.
"The media is giving unnecessary space to public statements made by political leaders. This is making it difficult for the leaders to reach a deal."
He warned that if a political consensus is not reached within a few days, political parties will lose their support among the public. nepalnews.com
