One-Day National Cricket kicks off; Janakpur, Pokhara win

Region No. 7 Janakpur defeated Region No. 3 Kathmandu while Region No. 8 Pokhara thrashed Region No. 1 Biratnagar in their respective match of Pepsi Standard Chartered One-Day National Cricket Tournament 2012 that kicked off in the capital on Tuesday.

Janakpur defeated Kathmandu by three wickets played at TU Ground. Electing to bat first, Kathmandu scored 185 runs losing all their wickets in 46.2 overs while Janakpur chased the target in 43.2 overs scoring 188 runs losing seven wickets.

Anil Mandal scored highest of 106 runs while Raj Mohammad, Kumar Prasun and Abishek Jha grabbed two wickets each for the winning team.

Similarly, Pokhara thrashed Biratnagar by eight wickets in another match of the day played at Engineering Ground, Pulchowk.

In their first inning, Biratnagar posted the target of 168 runs with the loss of all wickets in 40.4 overs. While chasing the target, Pokhara met the target in 41.3 overs with the loss of three wickets as Arjun Raj Adhikari scored 49 runs, Nischal Pande y 44 runs and Rahul BK 39 runs.

Rahul BK took alone grabbed four wickets for Pokhara. nepalnews.com
