Ambassador Bairagi presents his credentials to Italian Prez

Ambassador of Nepal to Italy, Shanker Das Bairagi, presented the Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano amid a special ceremony organized at the Quirinale Palace in Rome Tuesday.

During the ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai as well as the people of Nepal for the personal health and happiness of the President and for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Italy.

The President received Ambassador Bairagi in audience following the presentation of the credentials. Views were exchanged on a range of issues pertaining to bilateral relations and cooperation.

The ambassador also had a number of meetings with senior officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy and exchanged substantive views on ways and means of further strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation in the areas such as trade, investment, tourism, labour, science and technology, culture and education. He thanked the Government of Italy for its continuous goodwill and support towards Nepal's peace process and development efforts and underscored the need for working together on the areas of mutual interest at bilateral, regional and global levels.

Ambassador Bairagi is stationed in Geneva as Permanent Representative/ Ambassador of Nepal to the UN and Other International Organizations and Ambassador of Nepal to Switzerland and is concurrently accredited to the Republic of Italy. nepalnews.com
