Former king reaches Bhairahawa to commence religious trip

Former King Gyanendra Shah reached Bhairahawa of Rupandehi district today to start another round of religious trip.

A large number of royalists and supporters welcomed the formal monarch upon his arrival at Bhairahawa Airport on a Buddha Air flight this afternoon. Organising a welcome ceremony, they also chanted pro-monarchy slogans and called for the reinstatement of monarchy in the country.

During the four day trip, he will visit various Hindu temples and holy places in Rupandehi, Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu districts.

The former monarch, who will be accompanied by his wife (former queen) and close aides, is starting his religious trip to the mid-western districts on the invitation of royalists and supporters of monarchy in the districts.

He is scheduled to pay a visit to Radha Krishna Temple at Krishnanagar and Tauleshwor Mahadev Temple in Taulihawa on Monday.

He will also attend religious programs to be held at various religious shrines and temples in Nawalparasi and also visit Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini district during the religious trip.

The former king will also meet royalists and his local supporters in the three districts of Lumbini Zone as his aides have confirmed that the visit has no political objective and is a purely religious trip.
