Development projects in Mahottari district in Limbo

Over a dozen development projects in Mahottari district are in limbo due to the negligence of contractors.

Sixteen projects implemented by the District Development Committee (DDC), Mahottari, which had to be completed by the end of the current fiscal year ending mid- July are in limbo due to negligence of contractors.

The trend of acquiring and granting licenses for the new projects without completing the previous ones is on the rise in the district, Ram Ekwal Raya, secretary of the Nepal Intellectual Council, Mahottari told RSS.

Raya is legal practitioner by profession.

Over Rs. 100 millions of the Mahottari DDC is likely to be misappropriated due to the non-completion of the projects.

When asked, the Mahottari DDC has pledged to put the irresponsible contractors on a blacklist and initiate a process to take action against them.
