Corruption in ongoing development works in Dailekh

An overseer of the District Development Committee (DDC), Dailekh, has been charged of accepting Rs 40,000 bribe in a school building construction of Tulsi Primary School at Baluwatar VDC.

Chairman of users' committee Motiraj Shahi told RSS, "Overseer Baldeep Khand demanded Rs 50,000 but agreed in Rs 40,000 after frequent requests. But, he refused to take the cheque in his name. He only furnished the details of expenditure of school building construction after he signed in the cheque."

The DDC had allocated Rs 500,000 for the school building construction in the remote area. Earlier, overseer Khand had asked 10 per cent of the total money allocated by the DDC.

Similarly, users of Naumule-Baluwatar road construction committee have said that they were facing problems after overseer Hira Singh Thapa reported that 50 per cent of the construction work was completed without field visit.

A member of a user committee said that he paid Rs 3,000 after the completion of a project of Rs 30,000.

Most of the users groups in the district said that they were forced to pay 10 per cent of the development projects to the officials. Nepalnews.com
