Bodies of Nawalparasi bus victims handed over to kin

The bodies of those killed in the Nawalparasi bus accident that took place on Sunday have been handed over to their kin today.

Superintendent of Police Gyan Bikram Shah told National News Agency that 37 bodies were handed over to their relatives. Identity of two of the dead, however, is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, identity of all three Nepalis killed in the accident has been ascertained.

With this a total of 39 bodies including 10 of women, 28 men and a minor were recovered while dozen others have been feared missing in the Gandak canal.

It is said the ill-fated bus was carrying 136 passengers. Most of the dead are residents of Maharajgunj, India. Those dead in the incident are Indian nationals Gopal Gupta, Banna Pal, Shani Ansari, Sushila Lahari, Raju Patel, Ajay Verma, Bhim Yadav, Jitendra Prajapati, Bald-ev Madhesiya, Narsingh Yadav and Dhiraj Yadav.

Meanwhile, security personnel are still carrying out the search for the missing. Police said that the search mission was affected as the rainwater has swollen up the Gandak canal. nepalnews.com
