Govt to export citrus fruits to Tibet

The government has been preparing to export citrus fruits to Tibet Autonomous Region of China following the agreement signed between Nepal and Tibet on the Citrus Fruits Export and Import in Lhasa on July 4 and 5.

The preparation has been made to export citrus fruits to Tibet from the coming season, RSS quoted Chief of National Plant Quarantine Programme, Ishwor Prasad Rijal as saying.

As Nepal is also a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), it is allowed to export the products produced here in the international market, he added.

The Department of Agriculture has also started preparations to export banana, mango, seasonal and off-season vegetables along with citrus fruits, said Rijal.

He also informed that further discussion will be held with the concerned government officials for the effective implementation of the agreement. nepalnews.com
