Govt endorses ordinances related to election; removes VAT on Kerosene

The government has endorsed two ordinances related to the election to amend the constitutional provision regarding Constituent Assembly election slated to be held on November 22. The ordinances will be sent to the President for approval.

A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday morning, however, could not appoint the new chief secretary as expeted following serious dispute among the ruling coalition partners on the issue.

The meeting, however, decided to remove the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed on kerosene oil following the demand to remove such tax on kerosene used by people having poor financial condition.

The meeting also promoted three senior Nepali Army officials -- Colonel Gaurav Tandul has been promoted to the post of Brigadier General while Binaya Bikram Rana and Mindhwaj Khadka have been promoted to the post of Colonel. nepalnews.com
