Fifteen persons on a pilgrimage were killed when the jeep they were travelling in met with an accident at Jorte of Palpa district early Saturday morning.
The jeep with Indian number plate skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge several meters down, local reports said. The muddy road was slippery and the driver could not balance the overcrowded jeep.
According to Deputy Superintendent Mira Chaudhary, who led the police rescue team, the victims were migrant Nepalis from the area who had been living in India for years.
Fourteen passengers died on the spot while one person died while undergoing treatment at Palpa Medical College. Two others were injured and are undergoing treatment.
