YAN warns to confiscate state-owned vehicle used by VIPs
The CPN-UML aligned Youth Association of Nepal (YAN) Saturday announced to seize the state-owned vehicles provided to the VIPs by the government.
Organisng a press conference in Kathmandu, the YAN announced a 10-day protest programme against the government decision to provide state facilities to the former Prime Ministers, former Chief Justices, former Speakers and former Home Ministers, who held the position after 1990.
The YAN said it would enforce chakkajam (transportation halt) in Naya Baneshwor for half-an-hour at 4 pm on 31 July and 1 August and nationwide half-an-hour chakkajam on August 2, 3 and 4 and take out torch rally in all 75 districts on August 4.
The YAN chairman Mahes Basnet said they would enforce valley shut down on August 5 and 6 and wave black flags at PM and ministers in public events on August 7 and 8.
He also said that they would even confiscate the state-owned vehicles provided to the former PMs and ministers.
Recently, the government had endorsed an ordinance on state facilities to the former PMs, former Chief Justices, former Speakers and former Home Ministers, who were in office after 1990. The facilities include apartment rents, luxury vehicles and "hospitality allowance", among others. nepalnews.com
