Police identify victims of Palpa jeep mishap
Police have identified the victims of Friday’s tragic jeep accident at Jorte of Palpa district in which twelve persons of a family and their driver were killed. The jeep had skidded off the road and plunged into a stream along the Tansen-Tamghas road section in the night.
According to the police, the victims were Nepalis from the area who had been living in New Delhi of India for years. They had come to dispose of the mortal remains of 65-year-old Dhana Bahadur Rana of Thanapati VDC-5, Thorga of Gulmi at Ridi River. Rana had died in New Delhi about a week ago.
The victims have been identified as Dhana Bahadur’s wife Khagisara, 48, son Nara Bahadur, 20; daughters Ganga, 27; Sabi, 19; Faberi, 18; Bhawana, 15, daughters-in-law Trishna, 21; Deepa, 16, Sanu; 18, and sister-in-law Rata, 30, and grandchildren three-year-old Layas and nine-month-old Kaushila.
The driver of the ill-fated jeep has been identified as Ashok Kumar Tiwari, 30 of New Delhi.
Dhana Bahadur’s two sons – Satyendra, 30 and Rilesh 10 - have been injured and are currently undergoing treatment at Lumbini Medical College, Prabhash. nepalnews.com
