The Election Commission (EC) on Monday said the Constituent Assembly (CA) election cannot be held on November 22.
Organising a press conference at the Office of Election Commission of Nepal , Bahadur Bhawan, acting chief commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety said that CA elections cannot be held on the date announced by the government.
Earlier today, a meeting of the EC commissioners concluded that CA election cannot be held on the date stipulated by the governent. EC said it is impossible to hold the CA election on November 22 as the constitutional provision regarding CA election has not been amended even after the government endorsed two ordinances related to the election for the same.
Similarly, the opposition parties have also declared that they will boycott the CA election announced unilaterally by the government.
