Janajati leaders boycott UML CC meeting
Over a dozen Janajati and Madhesi central committee members of the CPN (UML) including vice chairman Ashok Rai boycotted the party's CC meeting on Saturday.
Those boycotting the CC meeting protesting the party leadership's stance against identity-based federalism including politburo members Prithvi Subba Gurung, Ram Chandra Jha and Bijay Subba.
The Janajati leaders had also snubbed yesterday's protest rally of the opposition parties against the announcement of elections by the Maoist-led government.
Talking to reporters after today's meeting, politburo member Prakash Jwala said most of the CC members suggested the leadership to talk to the Janajati leaders and find an amicable solution to their grievances.
Meanwhile, today's CC meeting of the UML decided to hold the national gathering of the party on June 18-19. According to Jwala, the national gathering will discuss the problems within the party and work out the work plans. nepalnews.com
