UML Janajati leaders want CA reinstatement for a week
Janajati leaders of the CPN-UML have submitted a memorandum to the party leadership demanding reinstatement of the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) for a brief period to promulgate new constitution by completing the remaining tasks.
Leaders representing indigenous communities and Madhesis submitted the memorandum at the standing committee meeting held today at party headquarters in Balkhu.
In the memorandum, they have also asked the party leadership to stand for 14-state federal model based on ethnic identity.
Vice-chairman Ashok Rai who is leading Janajati bloc in the party said they were firm in their stance of delineating and naming the provinces on the basis of ethnic identity.
"The CA should be reinstated for a week or ten days promulgate the constitution. All the issues should be finalised before the reinstatement," he said.
