Organising a press conference in the capital on Tuesday, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and the Indian Embassy officially announced the visit of Dhoni to Nepal on June 16.

Dhoni is arriving at the invitation of the Indian Embassy, said Embassy’s first secretary Apoorva Srivastava.

During his two-day visit, Dhoni will interact with the press, meet the U-19 and senior cricket players at the TU cricket ground, Kirtipur, and will also share views with CAN officials on development of cricket in Nepal, she informed.

The next day, Dhoni is set to offer prayers at the Pashupatinath Temple before returning India.

Dhoni’s visit will promote Nepali Cricket in the International Level, especially among Test Playing Countries as well as Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

With this visit CAN also hopes to establish link that may help it to develop ties with Indian regional cricket bodies as well as with the BCCI.

The visit is also expected to be helpful in projecting and exposing T.U. Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, as an venue for international cricket, CAN said in a statement. nepalnews.com
