A meeting of Standing Committee (SC) members attended by establishment faction leaders at party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal's residence in Lazimpat Wednesday morning decided to send the proposal to Baidya faction by this evening.

SC member and party spokesperson Dina Nath Sharma said they would show maximum flexibility in the proposal to keep party unity intact.

Meanwhile, party secretary CP Gajurel who is one of the key leaders in the hardliner faction said they would form their position after studying the establishment faction's proposal.

In the meeting with chairman Dahal on Tuesday, Baidya had sought the written proposal on party unity from party establishment.

Dahal had met Baidya on Tuesday as part of an attempt to prevent a vertical split in the Maoist party that is looming large.

While there was no concrete understanding, both Dahal and Baidya had agreed to continue talks aiming to keep the party unity intact.

According to the sources, the Baidya faction decided to hold talks with Dahal after he publicly stated that he was ready to quit as party chairman if that ensured party unity.

Apart from his resignation, Baidya faction also wants Dahal to admit failure of his agenda of peace and constitution and accept 'people's revolt' as the future course to be taken by the party.
