Officials of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Indian embassy and players of Nepal's national cricket team received Dhoni at the Tribhuvan International Airport this morning. The Indian cricket star is in Kathmandu for the first time at the invitation of CAN and the Indian embassy.

Dhoni met Under-19 and senior cricket players at the TU cricket ground, Kirtipur, sharing the experience of his cricketing career. There was a crowd of cricket fans when Dhoni was in Kirtipur to have a chat with Nepali cricketers on the pitch.

He also held discussion with CAN officials on development of cricket in Nepal.

On Sunday, Dhoni will visit Pashupatinath Temple before returning India. Dhoni’s visit is expected to promote Nepali Cricket in the International Level, especially among Test Playing Countries.

With this visit, CAN also hopes to establish link that may help develop ties with Indian regional cricket bodies as well as with the BCCI.

The visit is also expected to be helpful in projecting T.U. Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, as an venue for international cricket, CAN officials said. nepalnews.com
